About Laughing and Smiling

I wrote this song in my early teens (along with a bulk of others) that I recorded with midi instruments (the vocals also being midi (often saxophone for some reason...)) and roughly mixed them down into audio tracks. I recorded this song again with voice and real instruments (but some still based on midi), wrote the lyrics as I'd only had a couple of sentences marinading in my head over the decades, tweaked the melody and chord progression and the form of the song. My intention is to publish more songs from the bulk and put it under a new album called 'Echoes from the Past'.
LYRICS

My all and everything, light of my life.
Of joy we dance and sing, wonderful life.
The now and future we'd mold.
Of love and life, and growing old.
Laughing and smiling we were.

But then the raging rain fell from the sky.
Before we used to sing, now we just cry.
And the future we'd planned.
Got washed away into the sand.
Laughing and smiling we were.

The now and future we'd mold.
Of love and life, and growing so old.
BUt that future we'd planned.
Got washed away into the sand.
Back then laughing and smiling you were.
Laughing and smiling were were.

About Egill Antonsson

I began my musical journey at around age 8 with the piano. In my early teens, I was drawn to the guitar, inspired by icons like Slash. Alongside my two friends, all of us guitarists, we formed a band and I embraced the electric bass, recognizing its significance (alongside the drums) in modern music genres. Growing up in choirs my mother Halla Soffía Jónasdóttir sung in, I started myself singing more and more.
In my late teens, my passion for the piano resurfaced, leading me to focus on jazz piano, and a bit of bass, at FÍH music school. There, I had the privilege of learning from exceptional mentors, including Agnar Már Magnússon, Eyþór Gunnarsson, Jóhann Ásmundsson, and Sigurður Flosason.
Around the turn of this century, I was in the band KUAI which shone brightly before fading out. Throughout my journey, I collaborated with many talented musicians, yet my most enduring partnership remains with Sindri. Currently we produce music as Kanez Kane.

You can find more details about these collaborations in the 'About' section of the corresponding tracks.
